Currently the Minister of Music
at First Baptist Church, Jason took over in 1995 after the
resignation of Mark W. Rice.
Background
Jason was born and raised in Fayetteville in the Eastover
area of Cumberland County and graduated from Cape Fear High
School. After two years at the University of North Carolina
at Wilmington, Jason finished his degree at Methodist College
(now Methodist Univeristy) where he received a Bachelor of
Music degree with a concentration in Music Education.
Family
Originally from Albemarle, Jason’s wife Holli is currently
a teller supervisor with Branch Banking and Trust Bank (BB&T).
She is a graduate of Methodist College. Our only daughter,
Jessica, is currently a Sophomore at Cape Fear High School.
Interests
Jason loves golf, anything to do with golf, and spending time
at the beach. He follows several professional golfers closely
and enjoys watching college basketball, the Atlanta Braves,
and professional hockey.
Movies
Anything with a comedic background; favorites would be Mrs.
Doubtfire, any of the Matrix movies, and anything with Tom
Hanks.
Music
Lots of loud Rock and Roll (the louder the better), anything
sung by a group acapella, Classical choral works.
Books
James and the Giant Peach, Captain’s Courageous
Foods
Good, down-home barbeque (Eastern North Carolina style), steamed
oysters, anything Italian, collards and cornbread, my mother’s
lemon and cake and chocolate cake.
