Mari is a native of Maine and spent her childhood living in various places on the East Coast. She graduated from Summerville High School, Summerville, SC, Mars Hill University with a BA in Psychology and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity.

Mari has served as an Admissions Counselor for Mars Hill University before entering seminary and then has served congregations in NC, SC, TN, and Virginia. First Baptist Church of Fayetteville ordained Mari to the Gospel Ministry in 1989 when she served as Minister to Youth and Activities. Before returning Mari was serving as Pastor of a church in Virginia and as Campus Pastor and Administrator for Chowan University.

Mari has enjoyed involvement and seasons of leadership with CBF National, CBF NC, BWIM, BWIM of NC, Habitat for Humanity – Hertford County, Board of Directors, Door of Hope – South Africa, Clergy Coaching and many volunteer positions. Mari thinks the world’s cries and God’s call are indistinguishable. Because of this she is always eager to help others engage in service/mission opportunities. Mari has had the opportunity to lead 65+ missional experiences for congregations and universities both locally and globally.

Mari is thrilled and humbled to be able to lead and serve the congregation of First Baptist. She is excited and energized by the call on this congregation and is excited to share with the congregation and community the Good News of the Gospel. When she has free time she loves watching her dog, Max, run like a horse, explore this city, travel with and visit her family, read and be a curious life learner.
